HADASSAH ARISE |WEEK 39

faith in the fire

What if the very thing you’ve been praying to get through is the very thing God is using to grow you?

This week, Pastor Vivian challenged us to shift our perspective on trials and embrace the transformative work God desires to accomplish through life’s difficult seasons. Drawing from James 1–2 and Acts 10–14, the discussion centered on a powerful truth: trials are not just obstacles to overcome; they are opportunities for spiritual growth.

Pastor Vivian reminded us to “count it all joy” when facing various trials. This doesn’t mean pretending that hardship doesn’t hurt. Instead, it means trusting that God can use even our most challenging experiences to strengthen our faith, develop our perseverance, and mature our character.

But spiritual maturity requires more than simply knowing what the Word says. It requires us to live it out—especially when life doesn’t go as planned.

How do we respond when we are tested? Do we react out of frustration, fear, and emotion, or do we pause, seek God’s wisdom, and trust His direction? Pastor Vivian emphasized that our spiritual growth is revealed in how we endure difficulties, discipline our tongues, and remain obedient to God’s Word. It is not enough to hear the Word; we must allow it to transform how we think, speak, and live.

This week, don’t focus only on asking God to remove the trial. Ask Him what He wants to develop within you through it. Could He be strengthening your patience, refining your character, teaching you to control your words, or calling you to trust Him more deeply?
